#SHOPSMALL is coming up this Saturday, November 26th, 2016. On this day everyone around the country is encouraged to shop at their local neighborhood's small, local businesses.
In this post, I wanted to highlight 10 of my favorite local DC shops/spots that you should check out this upcoming #SHOPSMALL weekend:
REDEEM
This is one of my favorite small shops on 14th Street here in DC. They carry some of my favorite menswear brands such as Chapter, Assembly, Matiere, OAK, and more. I've also discovered new up and coming brands as well. Aside from apparel, they also carry some really great accessories such as Apolis (bags) and Le Specs (sunglasses). This store is perfect for anyone who is looking for pieces that are different and unique that stand out from the rest.

Whiskey Ginger
This shop is located right across from my gym and I always find myself stopping in after my work outs as they seem to always have something new in the shop. I've come across so many national & international brands that I hadn't heard of before. This shop is great for the guy that wants to break up his everyday office attire and throw in a great looking jacket or patterned sweater. The shop also has some pretty kick ass sneakers and bags if you ask me.

Avenue Jack
Another great addition to the line-up! What I love about this shop is that it carries some great small gifting goods, but also has some great options for guys looking for new denim and jackets. Also, if you're looking to grab some new underwear (as we all know every guy always needs), they've got a pretty good assortment of brands to choose from.

Salt & Sundry
What I love most about this shop is that I actually don't go in here to buy apparel. I go in here to grab some of the best stocking stuffer gifts. They have an expertly curated men's gifting section ranging from small candles to cocktail making kits. Guys, this is also a great shop to find that special gift for a girl-friend, girlfriend, or mom. If my kitchen or living room decor could be curated by a small local shop, it would definitely be this one.

Typecase Industries
I love this local letterpress shop located at the new Atlantic Plumbing building. They created my blog business cards and I get so many compliments from new contacts when I hand them out. Aside from business cards, they also carry some hilarious greeting cards. I buy all of my greeting cards from them all year round, but if you're looking to add some creativity and spunk to your greeting card line-up, Typecase Industries is the way to go!

FEDERAL
This is another great men's shop located right on the corner of 14th St & Florida Ave NW. Not only does this shop carry some great brands such as Filson, Vans, and Golden Bear, but I always love to stop in to check out their men's grooming products assortment. They feature some really well-known brands such as Baxter of California and Uppercut. If you're a huge fan of the Pendleton brand, FEDERAL carries bags, bags, and best of the the infamous Pendleton blankets.

Hudson & Crane
Looking to liven up your apartment or row home? Aside from just furniture, this shop offers some stand out pieces that can add a great touch of personality to any space. What I love most about this shop is that they always have big statement pieces to add on top of a coffee or accent table like a large vase or colorful planter. So stop in, kick your feet up and decide which pieces you'll be adding into your home!

Maketto
If by now, you don't know about Maketto, I suggest you get over to H St fast. Not only is Maketto known for its amazing food and drinks, but, right when you enter, you're welcomed by a small retail shop. I always have a hard time finding men's jewelry around DC and I found that Maketto has some of the best in the market. **Make sure you stop and admire the sneaker wall too.

Commonwealth
While we're on the topic of sneakers, let's venture back to Northwest where nestled right in Adams Morgan you'll find Commonwealth. If you're looking for some sneakers or apparel that stand out from the rest, this shop knows brands inside and out. There's no sneaker release, brand, or trend that they aren't already selling.

Hugh & Crye
If there's any men's clothing shop in Washington, DC that knows fit, it's this one. Known for their unique sizing system for sizing based on the height and build of the torso. (Stop in for fitting. Trust me, even I didn't know what correct size I was before I went in, Average/Slim in case you were wondering) what I think makes this brand stand out the most for me is that they offer other key accessory items as well such as fun + colorful year round prints in ties and pocket squares. Oh, did I mention they also sell a super comfortable fitted tees in tons of colors? I'm excited to see what other products they make as they continue to grow.
