June is PRIDE month and is a very special month for me. Since moving to Washington, DC, I've grown and learned so much about myself as a person, who I am, and what I want to become. This city has helped me appreciate and empower myself to embrace the person I am today. When the mural (pictured above) from the well-known artist Mr. Brainwash went up at Union Market, I know I wanted to stop by and check out his work. I loved the vibrant colors and to me, the wall depicted hearts of all colors and sizes coming together to create one giant piece of artwork and that's how I feel I've come together to love myself.
It was a chilly morning, so I threw on this lightweight striped linen sweater and ripped denim from J.Crew. I've been basically living in these high-top all-star chucks since spring hit in DC and I can't stop wearing them. They look so cool with so many of my outfits! Since I usually don't go heavy on the jewelry, I paired up a Daniel Wellington watch with this Giles & Brother bracelet I got in NYC a few years ago.
I hope you have a chance to visit the mural and snap some photos. It means a lot to me and I hope it can have meaning for you when you see it. Remember to love yourself first before loving others. That's truly the best love of all.
